Lift formed and irregular sheet metal and metal parts

As soon as a larger plant in the metal construction industry is purchased, the question arises as to how the machine can be optimally utilised in order to justify the possibly high investments. At the same time, many companies are often caught up in their day-to-day business and solve their customers' problems with tailor-made products. Process efficiency is then in many cases a feat for small and medium-sized metal and sheet metal processing companies.

Efficient material handling as the basis for efficient processes

Depending on the perspective, many answers for the investment in such a plant can be answered directly. Simply put, it is nothing more than lifting sheets or metal plates onto the system and getting the finished workpieces off the system after processing. This simple view essentially describes the framework of the entire process and gives an indication of the tasks that may arise. However, it is not clear how these can be implemented. Here, there are very serious differences in the handling of materials, which also lead to very different results.

The simple transport of materials by muscle power is the logical approach. Try to lift sheets of 2 m x 4 m by hand onto a cutting machine several times a day! This is certainly no fun any more - neither for your employees, nor for your accounting and personnel planning. In the area of loading, the solutions are therefore logical and visible. Vacuum lifters for horizontal transport, such as the devices of the ADVANCE series, can be optimally used for this purpose. However, such a vacuum lifting device is absolutely unsuitable for unloading the system and further transport, as it is far too inflexible and too bulky. A flexible and handy solution is required for these applications.

Smart workpiece handling

The same applies to the loading and unloading of systems. Of course, your employees and colleagues do not lift oversized materials here, as is the case with loading, but at best handy parts that can be easily transported by one person. In this case, manual handling seems to be quite feasible. If we now again ask the question how practical it will be to have an employee place parts of a system all day long, e.g. in a lattice box, then it will certainly become just as clear that this cannot be a permanent solution either.

With the combination of a flexible hose lifter with a load capacity of up to 300 kg and the VUSS suction plate technology, you can solve the handling question in a particularly smart way. The outstanding symbiosis of the systems automatically ensures efficiency through a high degree of flexibility and is gentle on your employees throughout. The MAXI-LIFT tube lifter is above all responsible for the agility of the solution, as fast lifting/lowering sequences enable rapid pick-up and placement of workpieces. A large working area can be covered with a suspension from rail systems or a slewing crane. In addition, vacuum generation can also be decentralized and thus also takes structural conditions into account. With different designs and variants, the MAXI-LIFT can also be specially adjusted and optimized for individual application areas. For example, high storage heights or deep baskets can be easily achieved by means of angled manipulation handles.

Are you looking for a solution with which you can easily move differently shaped sheet metal and metalwork parts? Then the VUSS tube lifter is the system solution for fluid, ergonomic and efficient processes in your production. We will be happy to provide you with a detailed offer tailored to your application environment and your needs.

Take a look at VUSS tube lifters now!

Variability in the shape of the workpieces

The Vacuum Unit Sensing System, VUSS for short, supplements the system solution with the necessary variability for workpieces. The suction plate and valve technology of the VUSS large-area grippers enables even free areas and recesses in laser parts to be bridged without any problems. The remaining surfaces are sufficient for picking up the workpieces. What works very well with VUSS for castings or moulded parts shows its strengths especially in the unloading of cutting systems. It doesn't even matter that your parts always come out of the machine in the same direction. The position of the output workpieces is absolutely irrelevant for pick-up with the VUSS large-area grippers on the tube lifter. Different cuts can be picked up and set down reliably without any problems. Depending on the required speed, this can also be done simultaneously and with intermediate depositing. The valve technology inside the large-area grippers is so precise that even depositing between other transportable parts is possible.

This is made possible by the valves on the large-area gripper, which are virtually maintenance-free thanks to their patented design. Thanks to the special design, the valve, in contrast to systems from other manufacturers, requires no ventilation balls at all, which significantly minimizes valve wear and considerably increases the service life of the valves. The specially developed material also makes the entire system up to 45% lighter than its predecessor and other models on the market. The VUSS concept is rounded off by flow channels with different designs that allow individual areas of the large-area gripper to be switched on or off.

This extraordinary system solution becomes particularly mobile through the use of mobile or relocatable crane systems. In addition to the rail systems mentioned above, which can cover a large working area but are installed stationary, mobile slewing cranes are the optimal combination for VUSS hose lifters. Mobile slewing cranes offer optimal conditions for process efficiency both for a quick introduction to the technology and as a permanent semi-stationary solution that can be moved freely in the workshop. The crane systems, which can be freely scaled to the required payload range, are mounted on a mobile base plate with mounting shoes for forklift trucks. This means that the entire combination can be moved quickly and easily without major conversion work. Due to the free design for different weight classes, almost all common vacuum lifters or tube lifters can be operated on mobile slewing cranes, as far as it is still practicable and reasonable.
