Calculation of load capacity, number and diameter of suction plates

Calculation of CARRYING CAPACITY

for a round suction plate with Ø160 mm

Area A = π x Ø x Ø / 4
A = 3.14 x 16 cm x 16 / 4
A = 201.06 cm2

Load capacity at 60% = 0.3 kg/cm2 x 201.06 cm2
Load capacity at 60% = 60.3 kg

Calculation of the required suction area

for a transport goods weight of 400 kg with a vacuum lifting device for dense transport goods

Load capacity at 60% = 400 kg

Area A = Load capacity ÷ Load capacity per cm3

Area A = 400 kg ÷ 0.3 kg/cm2

Area A = 1333.3 cm3

Required suction plate diameter when using 6 suction plates

using the example of a desired load capacity of 400 kg

When using 6 suction plates, each suction plate requires a suction area of 222.2 cm2

Formula circular area:

Area A = π x Ø x Ø / 4

Ø = √A x 4 ÷ π

Ø = √ 222.2 cm2 x 4 ÷π

Ø = 16.8 cm
